Our aim is to support communities and individuals in preserving and accessing local records and documentary heritage in their communities, provide online access to records through the provision of more records in digital form, and the use of new technologies to enable greater public usage of records.

Our clients and stakeholders include the Victorian community, Victorian Government agencies, service providers, IT vendors, the archives and records management industry, and the local and family history communities.

PROV houses over 83 km of public records dating from European settlement of the Port Phillip District in the 1830s to today. We are located in North Melbourne and in Ballarat.

With around 70 staff employed across many areas of the archives and approximately 100 Volunteers PROV is a fascinating place to work.
