Legislation and Regulations
Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) is part of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, and we are set up under the Public Records Act 1973 to be responsible
for the long term disposition and care of all records produced or held by
the State Government.
Copies of the Public
Records Act 1973 and Public
Records Regulations are downloadable from the Parliament
of Victoria website in Adobe PDF format.
PROV's responsibilities and obligations under the Whistleblowers Protection
Act 2001 are set out in the following downloadable document Procedures
for Handling Disclosures.
Requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 are handled through the Department of Premier and Cabinet Freedom of Information officer.
