CORONER'S INQUEST

COLONY OF VICTORIA,
TO WIT.

This Deponent Elisa Hirschfeldt
on her oath saith, I am a married woman, and the wife of Max
Hirschfeldt who has been a witness in this Case
residing at William Street Balaclava.

I and my husband arrived here by Mail Steamer "Kaiser Wilhelm"
on the 15th of December. There were passengers on board of the
name of Williams. They were a lady and gentleman travelling as
husband and wife. This photograph is that of Mrs Williams my
fellow passenger. I think that Mrs Williams' upper teeth were
false. I would know her husband, Williams, again. I saw him
last before Christmas. [crossed out: I have not seen him since. I saw him]
in Chapel St Windsor, not far from the Windsor Station. I have not seen him since. I can
see Williams in Court, sitting at the end of the table. That man
sitting there was my fellow passenger and was the husband of Mrs
Williams, the woman whose photograph I have seen here. Mr and
Mrs Williams had a canary on board. I would know the cage and
what it is like. That on the table is the one. I cannot remem-
ber the bird. I noticed a dress worn by Mrs Williams on board
the ship. There was a reddish brown one with embroidery. It
was like this in my hand and was of that pattern. There was a
light grey dress like this in my hand. I noticed an ornament
like a tiger's claw of silver. It was just the same as this in
my hand. Mrs Williams wore belts like those shown to me. I do
not remember whether there was anything on them. I remember Mr
and Mrs Williams having a basket chair on board. I have seen it
this morning outside the Court.
