Report of Constable Webster 3446
relative to Assisting in raising the body of
Emily Williams from the fireplace of 57 Andrews St

I have to report that on 3rd March
last at 8 p.m. I was sent for by Segt. [sic] OLough-
lan to proceed to 57 Andrew Street Windsor
where I assisted him in the rising of the
body of Emily Williams from the fireplace of
one of the bedrooms

I arrived there at 8 p.m. & the body was not
fully exposed till 10 p.m being encased in
cement. The stench was horrible & un-
bearable & I had to leave the room several
times for a breath of fresh air

After the body was removed to the morgue
I had to go home as I was quite ill from
the sickening smell as I had only came
on duty that day after a weeks illness
from a severe cold. The uniform &
clothing I wore on that occasion was
destroyed as they were completely saturated
with the stink.

I respectfully request that my superior
Officer will favourably consider my conduct
on that occasion & that my claim on
the reward be recommended
