To mark the fiftieth anniversary of the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, the Victorian Olympic Council, in collaboration with the Victorian Government, is mounting a special exhibition under the banner Melbourne – 50 Years On.

Over the past fifty years Melbourne has taken its place on the international stage and is now ranked among the world’s ‘most livable cities’ (source: Economist Intelligence Unit). Melbourne – 50 Years On tells the stories of Victorian businesses, families, individuals, organisations and government departments, celebrating their role in the social fabric of both city and state in the half-century since world attention focused on us in 1956.
