Local Government Retention and Disposal Authority – Exposure draft available for public comment
This authority, when issued as a Public Record Office Standard, in combination with PROS 07/01 General Retention and Disposal Authority for Records of Common Administrative Functions, will provide the legal basis for disposal of records of local government in Victoria (replacing PROS 98/01 General Retention and Disposal Authority for Records of Local Government). The exposure draft can be found here. The commenting period ends 30 March 2009.

Digital Standards Bibliography
The Collections Council of Australia has released an exposure draft of the Digital Standards Bibliography (version 2.0) for public comment. The Digital Standards Bibliography was developed to provide a list of Standards and Guidelines that assist with the creation and management of digital collections. The exposure draft of the Digital Standards Bibliography can be found here. Commenting period ends 31 December 2008.

Outwards Passenger Lists index extended by 290,000 names
PROV volunteers have completed indexing another ten years from 1887 and you can now search this index for people departing Victoria between 1852 and 1896. More >>

New index to Wills and Probate records 1841-1925
You can now search for Wills, Probate and Administration records by name up to 1925. Our online index links to digitised copies of these records where they exist.
