Sir,
I have the honor to report
my proceedings from the date of
my last report the 24th of July.
Upon arriving at the Grange
I was informed that the Natives
had been committing depreda-
tions at the Settlers Stations on
the Wando and Glenelg, and
with Mr Frenche’s advice I pro-
ceeded to that part of the Dis-
trict instead of the Wimmera
as I originally intended. I
visited all the Stations and
remained about there until
the eighth of August. During

that period there was only one
report of an attack made by the
Natives, and that I found to be
false, a shepherd having lost
a few sheep from neglect: but I
am sorry to say two of the Stations I remained
at for several days (Mr Robertsons
and Mr Corney’s) have suffered a
loss of about sixty sheep since I
left.
The day after I arrived at
the Grange from the Glenelg the
9th inst Mr Dwyer a Settler under
the Grampians, came and reported
that the Natives had attacked
his Station and taken one hundred and
eleven of his sheep; he did not
arrive at the Grange until the
sixth day after the sheep had
been gone, he had been out
some days endeavouring to re-
cover them himself but without
success, I immediately proceeded
to his station with four of my men
