Sir
I have the honor to re-
port for your Honor in-
formation my arrival in this
district with the Native Police
under my command.

I have formed a chain
of Posts from Mount Ecls to
the Coast alond [sic] the edge of
the great belt of stones, each
party being in communication-
and I have every reason to
believe the depredations com-
mittted by the Natives will

this disposition of the men-

I have not placed any
men at Mr. Browns station
as there is not the slightest
shelter for men or food
for horses, the place being
quite surrounded by water
and unfit to be occupied-

I intend proceeding
to the Glenelg as soon as I
have completed my arrange-
ments here - and from thence
to the Wimera and Lake
Hindmarsh.- The weather
is so bad and the ground
so saturated with water and
boggy that I fear I shall
have
