went in search of the wild natives
who had been spearing cattle to
a great extent on Mr Macalisters
run, upon coming up with them
heaps of beef and several dead beasts
were observed in their camp, and
while endeavouring to capture the
depredaters, which was rendered
almost impracticable from the
dense scrub and backwater, one
or two shots were fired, but I believe
without loss of life when the natives
disappeared -
I may also add by
order of Mr Macalister I was ins-
tructed to protect the stock upon
his run from the depredations of-
Aborigines.
With reference to the
affair of the Snowy river, I have
nothing more to state, then that
which was contained in my
report to the Commandant
a copy of which I forwarded for
your information – The loss of life
upon that occasion to my
knowledge was only one killed
I have the honor to be

your most Obd Servant
