Sir,
I have the honor to return the
enclosed despatch of the Commissioner
of Gipps Land sent by Your Honor for
my perusal, also my letter to Mr.
William Dana Commanding
2 Division Native Police, and his reply.
Any further information required by
Your Honor I shall be able to furnish
on the return of Mr. Walsh at present
on duty on the Murry [sic], he being the
Officer commanding Native Police in Gipps
Land previous to Mr. William Dana.

In acknowledging the receipt
of your letter of yesterday’s date
requesting to be informed what
instructions I received from the
Crown Land Commissioner relative
to the search after the European
woman supposed to be living
with the Gippsland Aborigines.
In reply I have the honor to
state that the only written in-
structions issued to me by Mr. Tyers
were relative to the disposition
of the Native Police under my
command
