the boy, so that he could not speak
a word to them. Bungeliene was
not there that day - or at least he
did not make his appearance there
in my presence - and I was there

Feby 26th
There came four or five
Warrigals within a short distance of
the Barracks - I saw them and went
over to them. One of the Warragals named
Tyers asked me about his Worekot -
meaning his gin that I heard was
taken to the green hills by the Native
Police - I went down with them to the
Lakes accompanied by Cowan, and
there I saw about fifty more
Warragals- They brought us to see an
old man which they said was Bungeleena.
They then brought a black gin which
they called Lorndicon. This was the
same gin that they shewed us on the
18th- There was no person there with
the whites could recognize Bungeleena
as Tackawadden was taken away by
Sergt McLelland to the green hills eight
days before. The only way that
I thought it to be Bungeleena hearing
Tackawadden mention that he used
the left hand - and as this Warragal
did the same, I have no doubt but
that
that it might have been Bungeleena
from the description I have received
of him. They then all went away
so that the supposed Bungeleena was
not captured - He came with his
own free will and went away
the same - But before leaving they .
