Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge
the receipt of a letter signed
C. L. J De Villiers, bringing
certain charges against me
for unjustifiable conduct &c
&c. and referred to me, by
you for an explanation -
In answer thereto I beg
leave to state that Mr.
De Villiers had not sufficient
grounds, for writing such
a letter - and that the
charges

charges therein brought are
not in strict accordance
with the truth, and also
in my opinion only brought
forward to try and injure
my character with the
Government -
