information from them-but they
unfortunately escaped about daylight
with the handcuffs on them. Mr
De Villiers and party arrived at
the Snowy River this morning and
after assisting him to beach his
boat &tc and gave him all
the information we could and
having requested him if he met the
two blacks with the handcuffs
to take them off & he having
promised to do so-we then
returned to Mr MacAlisters Station
atToolong.

Decr 23rd.
Arrived at The Border Police Station
In the evening we heard from some
of the Blacks that the white woman
was then on Raymond Island. Mr.
Dana and party immediately
started in Mr Commissioner Tyers
boat for the Island, and having
arrived there in the night time
and had communication
with the Blacks who told
us that Bungeleene was
