Names of the Natives who murdered Mr Ritchie’s
Shepherd and Robbed the hut
1 Billy Crawfoot.
2 Mr Murray who has the gun taken from the hut
in his possession.
3 Charley, not old man charley, nor boy charley but
a man apparently about forty
4 Puckurnal, a remarkably lean and miserable
looking creature.
5 Mr Murrays brother
6 Pickaninny Bably
The above named Aborigines were present at the
attack on my station, and Crawfoot was the man
who speared my overseer, Charley wounded the
other man. I was informed by about sixty
of the port Fairy tribe that these persons were the
principal actors in the attack on Ritchie’s
hut, when the man lost his life. It is the
more probable as they have been known to have
been ringleaders in most of the mischief lately
done in the port Fairy district
