
The search teams looking for the captive white woman passed several times
through the country depicted in this Eugène von Guérard painting. The
land was part of Angus McMillan's station, Bushy Park, and was used by
him to graze sheep. In 1840 it was McMillan who recorded the first alleged sighting of a white woman held captive by Aboriginal
people in Gippsland.
