VICTORIANS AT WORK is a snapshot of
the diversity of work undertaken by Victorians over the past two
centuries drawn from PROV's photographic collections.
PROV has thousands of photographs, created by government agencies
and departments to document their activities, achievements and works
in progress.
Through the photographs we explore changing fashions, new technologies,
dangerous jobs, back-breaking work, and occupations that are now
obsolete.
The photographs reflect fundamental changes to the nature of work
since colonial times, and provide insight into Victorian innovation,
industry and community life.
