Introduction

Over the last 150 years Victoria has experienced a number of landmark capital works and landscaping projects in response to its changing economic, environmental and cultural relationship to water.

Water Stories examines a number of these key projects as they relate to Infrastructure, Parks and Gardens, and the River Yarra with a view to revealing the treasure-trove of original records held by the state archives.

Water Stories also provides a bibliography and resources page where you can delve deeper into the provenance of the original records, as well as an education kit with teacher notes and student activities.

Importantly Water Stories links you to the PROV Rainwater Harvesting Project, a local example of how state and local governments are now driving a collaborative response to climate change.
