Activity 1: What have governments done so far?Imagine you have been asked to prepare a report or to organise a publicity campaign about an issue that concerns you. Investigate one of the three issues identified earlier. These are:
Find out what the Government of Victoria is doing today in your area of concern by visiting relevant websites such as:
Browse websites to see what things the government is doing today. Make rough notes as you browse to help you make sense of their work. You could also browse the State Government entry in the White Pages (page 37) to see what other government agencies work in areas associated with your issue. Use this information to prepare a chart, a web or another visual representation to explain what the government is doing in your area of concern, and for later use in your report or advertising campaign. Recheck your wish list of things that need to be done about this issue. Ask:
Complete the following statement, 'There is more to be done, such as :.......' As an extension, browse some Acts of Parliament and Regulations passed by the Parliament of Victoria since 1996 at www.parliament.vic.gov.au. Look at the purpose of these acts. Decide whether or not this gives you new ideas for your chart or web. |
