![]() ![]() Student ActivitiesWho could buy land in Victoria?Work in small groups when doing this activity. Activity 1: Does parliament help farmers, landowners and other people look after the land? When you looked at the Land Acts, you saw some of the ways in which parliament over time made it difficult or easier for more people to be able to buy land. In these acts, parliament saw land as a resource to use. There are other acts that have something to do with using and caring for the land. Look at this list of acts on the information sheet, Acts relating to land use and care. Remember, this is not a complete list of acts about the land and environment, but some of the more important ones. Some of these acts were amendments or changes to an earlier act and some were Consolidation Acts. Select two or more of these acts which your group thinks are very important. Read the title of each act carefully and decide what you think each act hopes to achieve. Explain how these acts help people to use and care for the land. Discuss what you think would need to be done so each act is successful and does what it suggests it will do. Present your ideas to the class. Be prepared to support your ideas if others in the class challenge your ideas. |
