Colonial Secretary’s Office

Sir
I have the honor to acknowledge the
receipt of Your Excellency’s letter of this date
in which you state that Her Majesty’s Royal
Assent to the New Constitution having been proclaimed
and it being therefore necessary that a Ministry
should be formed under it, it is your Excellency’s
duty to inform me that I must consider myself
released on political grounds from the office I now
hold.
In reply I beg to state that I submit to your
Excellency’s pleasure and that I shall continue
to discharge the duties of Colonial Secretary
until Your Excellency has appointed my
Successor.
As

As under the provisions of the Constitutional
Act I become entitled to a retiring allowance
on being released from the office of Colonial
Secretary on political grounds I have the
honor to request that Your Excellency will be
pleased to authorize the payments to be made
to me which are sanctioned by the Act.
