Using this record
This volume is an alphabetical index of patients admitted to the Yarra
Bend Asylum between 1848 and 1912. Entries are listed alphabetically by
patient surname and then chronologically by date of admission. Alphabetical
listings of male patients are found on left-hand pages and female patients
on right-hand pages. Accordingly, the page images alternate between male
and female lists.
In addition to each patient's date of admission and the date of their
discharge, transfer or death, you will find the volume and page number
in the case books where you will find their patient histories. To view
a patient's history in the Victorian Archives Centre Reading Room, order
the appropriate volume through the PROV website. Male and female patient
histories are located in separate series: VPRS 7399/P1 Case Books of Male
Patients and VPRS 7400/P1 Case Books of Female Patients.
