Using this record
Patients admitted to the Ballarat Asylum between May 1893 and March 1907 have their
admission and discharge dates recorded in this volume. The volume is arranged alphabetically by the first letter of patients' surnames and then chronologically by date of admission within each alphabetical grouping. Alphabetical listings of male patients are found on left-hand pages and female patients on right-hand pages. Accordingly, the page images alternate between male and female lists.

Details include patient's name in full, date of admission, date of discharge, transfer or death, and how discharged. The register was created to record the names of all patients on the books of the Ballarat Asylum, which included both patients in residence and those out on trial leave.
