Output Costing - PROV Case Study for Management Reform Program Public Record Office Victoria (PROV), in conjunction with the Department of Treasury and Finance (DTF), recently produced and launched a Case Study of effective management reform in practice. The Department of Treasury and Finance is responsible for advancing and promulgating the Victorian Government's Management Reform Program (MRP) across the public sector. One of the means by which that Department embeds the MRP, is via the statewide promotion of examples and anecdotes of "best practice". PROV collaborated with DTF in developing such a Case Study. The PROV Case Study examines an in-depth "Output Costing" exercise that was commenced in 2000, but is still generating improvements today. Output Costing is not only an important component of the MRP, but is also fundamental to good business management. On 13 June 2002, Dennis Carmody, Acting Director of Arts Victoria (and a major sponsor of the PROV Case Study) "launched" the Case Study before an audience of approximately 100 senior government officials. For further information on the PROV Case Study, and any other MRP Case Study of effective management reform, also check out the Department of Treasury & Finance website at http://www.dtf.vic.gov.au.
