Good Records - Good Business - Good Governance

PROV’s awareness program Good Records – Good Business – Good Governance is
a free-of-charge, “ready-made” recordkeeping awareness program you can
deliver in your own organisation, without having to sacrifice time and
energy on developmental requirements. Click here for more information.

Records Management Concepts

For those who find themselves managing an organisation’s records without any real background knowledge, or perhaps for those who are wanting to refresh their understanding of good recordkeeping; these half-day seminars are designed to explore the fundamental principles of good records management and get back to the 'grass roots' of good recordkeeping.

Records Management Concepts – Records (RMC-R) looks at the reasons behind records management (why do we keep records?) as well as the characteristics of records themselves, including registration and classification.

Records Management Concepts – Systems, Storage and Disposal (RMC-SSD) advances the understanding of records management by looking at the systems we use, the records we store, and principles of disposal and destruction.

Cost: $50.00 per person per session.

How to register for training.

For more information, please contact Education and Training (tel. +61 3 9348 5674)

Take Away Concepts

For organisations wishing to “order in” their records management training program, Take-Away Concepts combines the principles and practices covered in Records Management Concepts – Records and Records Management Concepts – Systems, Storage and Disposal into a one-day workshop for in-house training of up to twenty people at your organisation.
The workshop covers topics such as:
Records and responsibilities, systems, rules and tools
Capture & control
Information retrieval
Disposal
VERS

Cost: Melbourne Metro $2000.00
Regional $3000.00

If you would like to have this workshop delivered at your organisation, simply contact the Education and Training Team at training@prov.vic.gov.au (9348 5600) for more information.

VERS Technical

VERS Technical is an intensive PC-based course which gives participants an opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of VERS objects by 'getting their hands dirty' with VERS. Participants will spend the day viewing, creating, using and dismantling VEOs (VERS Encapsulated Objects). Topics covered include:

- Viewing VEOs
- the VERS Document Type Definition
- VEO metadata
- File VEOs
- Binary documents and how they are stored in a VEO
- VEOs containing multiple documents and renditions
- the use of digital signatures in a VEO
- the creation of onion VEOs
- creating VEOs

This course will suit people who are already familiar with the VERS standard and the general structure of a VEO, ideally having previously attended at least one other VERS course. Participants should also have basic PC skills, and some familiarity with html or xml would be useful.

Please note: These courses are offered "on demand". Once a sufficient number of registrants has been reached, a date for delivery of the class will be set, and registrants notified.
