3.0 VERS Long Term Format
The VERS long term format requires that VEOs be expressed in XML (eXtensible
Markup Language). The structure of XML requires the use of container
fields for groups of related fields and objects. These container fields
do not contain metadata as such but may contain a group of fields which
do contain metadata. These container fields are represented graphically
in Figures 2-5 and in the
descriptive tables but
should not be seen as metadata elements which require a value to be ascribed
to them.
