About the new RDA
PROV has released a new Retention and Disposal Authority (RDA) to authorise disposal of records created and held by Royal Commissions, boards of inquiry and formal reviews established and conducted under the Inquiries Act 2014.
The new RDA, PROS 17/01 Retention and Disposal Authority for Records of Royal Commissions, Boards of Inquiry and Formal Reviews covers records documenting the functions of:
- establishment and administration
- inquiry, investigation and research
Development of the RDA
The RDA was developed by PROV in consultation with Victorian Government stakeholders including the Departments of Premier and Cabinet, Justice and Regulation, Health and Human Services, and the Royal Commission into Family Violence. PROV thanks all for their advice and feedback.
Scope of the RDA
PROS 17/01 applies only to records created and received by an inquiry body itself.
Disposal of records created by an agency close agency Definition Any department, agency or office of the Government of Victoria as a result of its participation in, and liaison with an inquiry body continues to be authorised by PROS 07/01 General Disposal Authority for Records of Common Administrative Functions. Please note PROS 07/01 has been expanded recently (see Variation 4) to include a broader range of records relating to Royal Commissions and inquiries.
